An analgesic or painkiller is any member of the group of drugs used to achieve analgesia or relief from pain. Most analgesic drugs have the capacity to reduce inflammation. For that reason, they are called analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs. But the degree of anti-inflammatory effects varies from drug to drug.
